Diane Barghi-Swim

DianeI am new to the sport of triathlon but I have been a swimmer since I was little. I started swimming year round at the age of nine in my hometown of Shreveport, Louisiana. I competed at the state level in junior and high school and earned a swimming scholarship to Texas Christian University. In high school, I taught group and private swim lessons and coached summer league swimming and for my club team. After college graduation, I competed in US Masters swimming in Fort Worth until I moved to Houston in 2005. I swam with RICE masters and was assistant coach for a summer league team until the birth of my son, Andrew in 2009. Currently I live in Friendswood with my husband, Clint and my two children, Andrew and Taylor.

I first met Melanie at the masters program at South Shore Fitness center but it wasn’t until the Powerhouse Racing moved its morning swim practices to Friendswood High School that I started to consistently swim again. I have always loved the sport of swimming and I am excited to be active in it again! My goal as a swim coach is to help every athlete feel comfortable in the water, increase their confidence along with their stroke efficiency and endurance. Swimming has been such a huge part of my life and I want others to enjoy the water as much as I do!
